The Into the Deep strategic planning process was announced and shared throughout the diocese.
Data was collected from parishes, schools, other Catholic institutions, and from general census information - all of which was used to create a "Current Reality Report" (explaining our current reality).
The "Current Reality Report" was finished and shared with various leadership groups (of priests, deacons, religious, and lay people) from across the diocese, as well as the general public.
Leadership groups were also consulted regarding how best to realign our resources for the sake of mission and the good of our people given the current reality.

Public feedback was sought and determinations were made about how best to realign our resources for the sake of mission and the future.
Bishop Donald J. Hying reviewed and approved an appropriate bold new model which, in his words, will help us to accomplish “this daunting, necessary, but hope-filled task of recalibrating our resources to [better] match the mission of Jesus Christ.”
Newly formed parishes implement and refine their strategic plans in an effort to enhance our Go Make Disciples Initiative and work toward achieving our six guiding principles: 1) follow Jesus; 2) reclaim Sunday; 3) evangelize others; 4) engage youth; 5) equip leaders; and 6) serve neighbors.
